Position: Prep Cook Experience Required: 1 year Job Overview As a Prep Cook at Famous 4th Street Delicatessen, you’ll be the essential support behind our classic dishes. Your role is to handle day-to-day food preparation, making sure our chefs have everything they need to create the quality meals our guests love. Responsibilities include chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, organizing and sanitizing the kitchen, and ensuring efficient storage of all food items. You’ll report to the head chef and often start earlier than other kitchen team members to prep for the day’s service. On-the-job training and opportunities for growth are provided for all team members. Key Responsibilities - Set up, sanitize, and maintain a clean work station. - Follow prep lists created by chefs, measuring ingredients and preparing cooking essentials. - Prepare simple dishes like salads and entrees as needed. - Safely store ingredients and monitor food and cooling temperatures. - Assist chefs with culinary tasks, including accepting and sorting ingredient deliveries. - Plate dishes, clear them for dishwashing, and prepare orders for takeout. - Occasionally prepare drinks and cocktails per chef’s specifications. Required Skills Strong knife skills, with knowledge of both basic and advanced techniques. Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and ingredient prep. Ability to follow recipes, communicate effectively, and work as part of a team. Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards. Compensation and Benefits Compensation is hourly and based on experience, and additional perks.
